We Have No King But Jesus!

Folks,

The latest installment from Michael Voris of Real Catholic TV is provided below. Here is the correct Catholic response to the battle between Caesar and Christ:

We Have No King But Jesus!

America's Quiet Anger

Folks,

Please read James P. Gannon's recent essay, America's Quiet Anger, at The American Spectator. There is nothing substantive that I can possibly add to what he writes. Barack Hussein Obama and his demonic legions from hell have succeeded in dividing this country and placing in stark contrast the righteous and the wicked. It's really that simple.

Pray for Your Bishop - What a Novel Idea!

Folks,

In response to Sunday’s post Untangling the confusion about the Church, commenter Madison Catholic suggested that the reader sign up for an account at Rosary for the Bishop to be reminded via e-mail or twitter on a self-selected periodic basis to pray for one’s Bishop.

I have signed up to be reminded to pray for Bishop Michael Burbidge every Monday. On each Monday in the future my daily Rosary will now be devoted for my Bishop.

If every single Roman Catholic prayed for his Bishop, then the power of the Holy Ghost would descend, renegade liberal Bishops would repent, timid and fearful Bishops would be filled with the God's anointing strength and courage, and strong and orthodox Bishops would become the leaders in the fight to restore the Church in America.

Indeed, all the scandals – sex abuse, material cooperation with abortionist politicians, renegade Catholic hospitals, colleges, and women religious organizations, etc. – would all be cleared up. No longer would an abortionist President be permitted to speak at a Catholic University and that institution still call itself Catholic. No longer would a Catholic medical trade group be able to defy the Bishops and support pro-abortion health care, and still call itself Catholic. No longer would our Catholic schools in NY State need money from pro-abortionist Catholic Governor Patterson to stay afloat. All these things would straighten out almost miraculously.

So pray for your Bishop. Pray that he is filled with God’s Spirit, and that the stinging arrows of Satan’s legions are deflected back onto the throwers where they belong.

Archbishop Dolan on Il Papa

Folks,

Below is the statement of Archbishop Dolan on this past Palm Sunday from Catholic Online. To hear the statement, please see the video at the following web link:

Archbishop Dolan Palm Sunday Statement

I for one am appalled at the sickening accusations levied at our Holy Father concerning the sexual abuse crisis by the Marxist media and militant gay activist perverts such as the one who has made his dedication and devotion to sexual promiscuity and idolatory all too apparent in a comment he left at this blog site's recent post:

News from Liberal Progressive NY Times

Archbishop Dolan is too kind to be anything less than diplomatic in his speech. But here at this blog site a spade will be called a spade and a pervert a pervert (whether renegade liberal Archbishop Weakland or a sickening gay activist from Chicago makes no difference).

-----

Remarks of Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York at Saint Patrick´s Cathedral in New York on Sunday, March 28, 2010

"May I ask your patience a couple of minutes longer in what has already been a lengthy — yet hopefully uplifting —Sunday Mass?

"The somberness of Holy Week is intensified for Catholics this year.

"The recent tidal wave of headlines about abuse of minors by some few priests, this time in Ireland, Germany, and a re-run of an old story from Wisconsin, has knocked us to our knees once again.

"Anytime this horror, vicious sin, and nauseating crime is reported, as it needs to be, victims and their families are wounded again, the vast majority of faithful priests bow their heads in shame anew, and sincere Catholics experience another dose of shock, sorrow, and even anger.

"What deepens the sadness now is the unrelenting insinuations against the Holy Father himself, as certain sources seem frenzied to implicate the man who, perhaps more than anyone else has been the leader in purification, reform, and renewal that the Church so needs.

"Sunday Mass is hardly the place to document the inaccuracy, bias, and hyperbole of such aspersions.

"But, Sunday Mass is indeed the time for Catholics to pray for " . . . Benedict our Pope."

"And Palm Sunday Mass is sure a fitting place for us to express our love and solidarity for our earthly shepherd now suffering some of the same unjust accusations, shouts of the mob, and scourging at the pillar, as did Jesus.

"No one has been more vigorous in cleansing the Church of the effects of this sickening sin than the man we now call Pope Benedict XVI. The dramatic progress that the Catholic Church in the United States has made — — documented again just last week by the report made by independent forensic auditors — — could never have happened without the insistence and support of the very man now being daily crowned with thorns by groundless innuendo.

"Does the Church and her Pastor, Pope Benedict XVI, need intense scrutiny and just criticism for tragic horrors long past?

"Yes! He himself has asked for it, encouraging complete honesty, at the same time expressing contrition, and urging a thorough cleansing.

"All we ask is that it be fair, and that the Catholic Church not be singled-out for a horror that has cursed every culture, religion, organization, institution, school, agency, and family in the world.

"Sorry to bring this up … but, then again, the Eucharist is the Sunday meal of the spiritual family we call the Church. At Sunday dinner we share both joys and sorrows. The father of our family, il papa, needs our love, support, and prayers."

What A Difference A Year Makes! 03-30

Folks,

The latest news report from Michael Voris of Real Catholic TV is provided at the web link and embedded video stream below. The accusation of partisanship and unchaitableness lies NOT against orthodox faithful Catholics, but against those Catholics who parade Obama bumber stickers on their cars and who defend Obamacare while assenting to the human sacrifice of our unborn babies.

Update - Liberal Archbishop Weakland Was Reponsible

Folks,

Catholic World News reports that Archbishop Weakland was responsible from 1977 onwards for administering the sexual abuse case of Father Murphy and did NOTHING until 1996. Then two years later Father Murphy dies. Please see the following news report:

Canadian bishop defends Pope, criticizes Archbishop Weakland, New York Times

Please note that in 2000, Weakland was a critic of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith's document Dominus Iesus on religious relativism. Pope Benedict XVI wrote that when he was Cardinal and it opposes liberalism, progressivism and relativism (all the things the NY Times supports). Weakland, however, has been a theological liberal and a dissenter throughout his episcopate, and he retired on May 24, 2002, amidst revelations that he had used diocesan funds to negotiate the silence of his partner in a homosexual affair and also having reached the mandatory retirement age of 75.

So Archbishop Weakland was gay pervert himself, and a dissenter of Church teaching. Is it ANY wonder that nothing was done about Father Murphy? And is it ANY wonder that the NY Times blames the "anti-gay" Pope Benedict XVI for what the pro-gay apostate Weakland was guilty of?

Here are the rules for the NY Times: If you're a pro-abortion liberal democrat gay priest, then you're a-ok. BUT if you're an orthodox Catholic, then we'll hunt you down and blame all manner of grotesque infamy on you.

Shame on you, NY Times. Utter shame!

News from Liberal Progressive NY Times

Folks,

Once again the NY Times as a corporate body has proven itself to be a liar and disseminator of Marxist propaganda. In this case it lied about the Church's handling of the sexual abuse case surrounding Father Murphy formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The full details may be read here:

Setting the record straight in the case of abusive Milwaukee priest Father Lawrence Murphy

Relevant commentary from our ever intrepid political analyst and Catholic apologist Catawissa Gazetteer may be found here:

From the Horse's Mouth - The Truth about the Father Murphy Case from the Presiding Judge

Now why does the NY Times publicize falsehood? Is it the sensationalism of a rehash of an old sexual abuse crisis which it expects will raise dismal ratings and hence dwindling revenue, or is it revenge against the Church for opposing the Health Care Program of that false and demonic messiah, Barack HUSSEIN Obama? I for one suspect the later.

The NY Times has long been a bastion of Marxism, liberalism, sexual freedom, and all manner of disgusting filth. Indeed, its management supports and advocates the very type of homosexual license of which they accuse Father Murphy. Perhaps if he were Harvey Milk things would be different. Indeed, how can the NY Times on the one hand decry Father Murphy for his homosexual perversion while it extolls Harvey Milk for his? Whether Father Murphy does it with boys, or Harvey Milk does it with young men, or so-called nuns in the Lesbian (er, I mean Leadership) Conference of Women Religious do it between themselves, homosexual sex is still a sickening, disgusting perversion. That's what Romans 1:18-32 says.

The Church, on the other hand, is the final bastion of righteousness and holiness and as such opposes such revolting, putrid and vile filth. So what better way is there to try to undercut the moral authority of the Church than with a regurgitation of an old sexual abuse scandal - and a false and misleading regurgitation at that?

Well, it won't work, for neither the NY Times nor the Gates of Hell which motivate it can ever defeat Holy Mother Church. The NY Times and its management will one day shrivel up into economic oblivion as people smarten up and realize Truth is to be beholden NOT from secular atheist humanist progressive media, but from the only bastion of Truth there is - Holy Mother Church. For 2000 years the disobedient and defiant (like those today running the NY Times) have been ralling against the Church. They and their causes are now in the dust bin of history. So will it go with the NY Times. Lies are sin, and sin begets death. So the NY Times has got to die. And it will as it hangs its own self with its own lies.

Members of "Christian" Militia Group the Hutaree Arrested

Folks,

Various news outlets, including Catholic Online, have reported that Members of Extremist Group´ the Hutaree´ Arrested. Terror Plot Foiled.

This group is no more Christian than Obama and the people running Planned Parenthood. As Catholic Online reports, "The members of this anti- Government, apocalyptic sect are led by a man named David Brian Stone. They attempt to use strange ramblings on their website to try to make their ultra right wing, violent anti-government crusade somehow "sound" Christian. There is nothing new to this tactic; one has only to look at the same tactic used by the virulently racist, anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic Ku Klux Klan."

Yes, Matthew 10:34-36 does state, "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man 'against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household."

But we must remember what Jesus Himself said when His bretrayer handed him over to the High Priest and Pharisees in Matthew 26:51-54, "And behold, one of those who accompanied Jesus put his hand to his sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, 'Put your sword back into its sheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot call upon my Father and he will not provide me at this moment with more than twelve legions of angels? But then how would the scriptures be fulfilled which say that it must come to pass in this way?'"

Therefore, let us remember Romans 12:17-21, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, on your part, live at peace with all. Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.' Rather, 'if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.' Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good."

We must peaceably oppose the Government of Barack Hussein Obama, NOT violently. Violence makes us who believe in the Gospel of Life as bad as him and his pro-abortion demonic legions of progressives, liberals and democrats. Only God can ultimately defeat Obama, and one day God will:

"The beast was caught and with it the false prophet who had performed in its sight the signs by which he led astray those who had accepted the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped its image. The two were thrown alive into the fiery pool burning with sulfur." (Revelation 19:20)

Right now let us recall Ephesians 6:10-17, "Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all (the) flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Judas Today! - And a Note About a Reader's Comment

Folks,

Yesterday's news segment from Real Catholic TV may be found at the link below or viewed here from the embedded video or at Catawissa Gazetteer's blog site entry on the same.

Judas Today!

Now this morning I received a comment in the moderation section of this blog site reprimanding me for the manner in which Sacred Scripture is used here, and calling on God to have mercy on my soul. I do sincerely appreciate the sentiment that God have mercy on my soul, for right now (due to early morning cranial fog) I can't seem to locate the blog entry for which this comment was submitted. But I will respond here by pointing out Moses admonition to the Children of Israel in Deuteronomy 8:

Be careful not to forget the LORD, your God, by neglecting his commandments and decrees and statutes which I enjoin on you today: lest, when you have eaten your fill, and have built fine houses and lived in them, and have increased your herds and flocks, your silver and gold, and all your property, you then become haughty of heart and unmindful of the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery; who guided you through the vast and terrible desert with its saraph serpents and scorpions, its parched and waterless ground; who brought forth water for you from the flinty rock and fed you in the desert with manna, a food unknown to your fathers, that he might afflict you and test you, but also make you prosperous in the end. Otherwise, you might say to yourselves, 'It is my own power and the strength of my own hand that has obtained for me this wealth.' Remember then, it is the LORD, your God, who gives you the power to acquire wealth, by fulfilling, as he has now done, the covenant which he swore to your fathers. But if you forget the LORD, your God, and follow other gods, serving and worshiping them, I forewarn you this day that you will perish utterly. Like the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so shall you too perish for not heeding the voice of the LORD, your God.

Benjamin Franklin explained it this way during the Consitutional Convention of 1787:

God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.

In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered… do we imagine we no longer need His assistance?

Under Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and the remaining liberal Democrats, this basic principle has been forgotten, hence verses 19 and 20 in chapter 8 of Deuteronomy apply:

But if you forget the LORD, your God, and follow other gods, serving and worshiping them, I forewarn you this day that you will perish utterly. Like the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so shall you too perish for not heeding the voice of the LORD, your God.

There, my friends, is God's eternal and holy justice, NOT some some weird, misbegotten phony excuse such as "social justice" or "distributive justice". This is Holy Week. We must REPENT for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

Thought for the Day

Folks,

My boss at work sent me the following via e-mail - how true!

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."

Now Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels, and mortgaged the Promised Land!

America Surrendered

 Folks,

Below is repeated the entirety of Lawrence Auster's latest essay, America Surrendered, at his blogsite, View from the Right. I don't always agree with Mr. Auster for reasons that become obvious once the reader delves deeply into his writings, but here he is quite correct:

America Surrendered

The ascendancy of the left with its tyrannical agenda has brought about, or made plainly visible for the first time, the splitting of America into two distinct peoples that cannot abide each other. The other America wants to bring us under the power of a dictatorial government that will control the entire society. Naturally we reject that. The more we resist their will to put us under their will, the more enflamed against us they become. They don't want us to resist. They don't even want us to complain. They want us to submit. If we protest the passage of the greatest expansion of government power in American history, they portray us as crazed bigots screaming in hatred of black people. In the pages of the nation's two leading newspapers, the New York Times and the Washington Post, their star columnists portray us as the lowest, most disgusting things alive. No one should ignore the expressions of dehumanizing hatred toward conservatives that are standard fare even in, or especially in, the "elite" precincts of the left, any more than one should ignore what the Koran says about infidels. The leftists regard us as dangerous enemies of all that is good and holy and therefore feel compelled to dominate and crush us. They cannot help but feel this way, since their "religion," liberalism, commands it, just as Muslims cannot help but feel the way they feel toward Jews and Christians, since their religion commands it. These are the kinds of things that people fight wars and civil wars over.

Can there be any peaceful resolution of this? Conceivably there could be. Since the crisis was brought about by the election of a leftist president and leftist Congress to a position of unopposable power over the country, it could be ended by the electoral removal of that president and Congress. The defeat of the Democratic House majority in 2010, followed by the defeat of the Democratic Senate majority and the Democratic president in 2012, by removing the left from power, possibly for a long time, combined with the repeal of Obamacare in January 2013, could end the crisis. An even more hopeful scenario would be that the total electoral crushing and rejection of the Democrats might so stagger them that if they ever did return to power, many years in the future, they would never again try to do what Obama did. In the most hopeful scenario, during the liberals' many years of powerlessness, an Alan Roebuck would send out conservative missionaries, like Boniface going into the savage forests of Germany, and convert the liberals to conservatism.

But what if neither the electoral removal of the Democrats from power nor the repeal of Obamacare happens? In that case the civil war-like condition I described above will continue and deepen, and I can see no resolution to it, since the two sides have mutually irreconcilable and passionately held ideas of what America should be; the leftists want to keep expanding their statist death-grip over the country, and that is unacceptable to us. Indeed, even if we drove them out of Congress and the presidency and repealed Obamacare, it wouldn't necessarily be over, because they would keep struggling to return to power and bring it back. We would remain two peoples who cannot abide each other living in one country, and there would be no end to the struggle and the hatred.

In the absence of a decisive political solution (i.e. the crushing electoral defeat of the Democrats), peace could logically come about through only two ways: through one side subduing the other by force; or through the two sides separating into separate nations. The second option, variations of which have often been proposed by right-wingers, seems on the face of it out of the question, given that the two groups are geographically mixed throughout America. The fact that some states are mostly red and others mostly blue does not mean that two viable independent nations can be formed out of these intermingled red and blue patchworks. So the only future seems an endless future of conflict within the U.S., becoming increasingly bitter and ultimately violent. But maybe the hatred and violence will cause a series of internal migrations, with conservatives moving to red areas and liberals moving to blue areas, with eventually two relatively contiguous areas emerging which can form separte self-governing polities. But then how would these two warring politics co-exist on the same continent, with one having the coasts and the ports and the big cities, and the other having the interior and the more rural areas? It still seems inconceivable.

So, to sum up, I see only two ways this gathering conflict can be ended, a peaceful way and a horrible way.

The peaceful way is that the Democrats are wiped out in the polls and driven from the Congress and the presidency, so demoralized by their defeat, and so discredited in the public's eyes by what they did to the country, that they will have no prospect of returning to power for many years to come.

The horrible way is that one side or the other becomes a dictatorship and subdues the other side by force, a process in which many people would be killed and much of the country would be ruined.

However, to return to an idea I've already twice raised and twice rejected, the last option is so horrible, that it might push the two sides to separate into two countries, since even a deeply dysfunctional separation of the two sides into two countries would be preferable to the violent suppression of one side by the other which will happen if they remain together.

Does all this seem like a vast prospect of misery? But that's what happens when the left takes over a country. The left divides a society in two. It destroys civilizations. That is its job.

Today's Humor - Perspective: Surrender May Be a Viable Option After All

Folks,

This is what every liberal progressive Democrat ought to be facing.

I know, I know - I'm fantasizing again!

Abuse & Scandal: What Went Wrong?

Folks

Fr. Philip Neri Powell's latest short essay at his blogsite, Domine, da mihi hanc aquam!, deserves to be read:

Abuse & Scandal: what went wrong?

Those of us who feel betrayed and demoralized should recall to mind the following words in the last paragraph:

The Good News, however, is clear: the war against evil has already been won. This week, the Church celebrates the Passion of the Lord, climaxing on Easter Sunday with his glorious resurrection from the tomb. Read the reports of abuse and scandal. Pray first and foremost for the victims of these crimes. Pray for the men and women who committed them. Pray for the men and women who helped to cover them up. Pray for the media vultures who believe that they are circling the wounded, dying body of the Church, waiting for their favorite ideological opponent to croak. And as you pray, remember. . .every Passion Week, every week of suffering, ridicule, betrayal, every week comes to an end with the Resurrection!

Pray the Rosary for Our United States

Folks,

I received the following e-mail this evening. There may be no other way to prevent the dissolution of these United States and the coming Civil War than by following the recommendation below. Pray for the repentance and conversion of Obama, Biden, Pelosi and the rest of the soldiers in the Devil's army. Pray for the defeat of secular atheist humanism. Pray to our Blessed Mother and Her Most Holy Son.

Imagine what might happen if every Catholic in the world would pray a Rosary on the same day! We have an example in October of 1573, when Europe was saved from the invasion of the mighty Turkish fleet, by the praying of the Rosary by all Christians!

So, on Good Friday, let us all pray a Rosary for peace in the world and the return of moral values into our communities. If possible, please pray your Rosary between Noon and 3:00pm.

Also, please e-mail this message to every Catholic on your address list, and ask them to pass it along to every Catholic on their lists. Let's unite in praying one of the most powerful prayers in existence, for these intentions, on one of the holiest days in our Church year.

God bless all!

Note: This email has been going around the world.

Will America Break Apart?

Folks,

My friend Catawissa Gazetteer has an excellent commentary, "States Rights and Human Rights - We've Been Here Before," on Jeffrey T. Kuhner's column "Will American Break Up?" in the Washington Times. Please check it out.

The country is now divided between liberal socialist democrats and freedom-loving traditionalists and Constitutionalists. The former are atheist humanist secularists intent on murdering unborn and aged alike while glorifying themselves in homosexuality, adultery and fornication. The latter believes in God, Family and Country. The former insists on a nanny government that remediates the consequences of all the mistakes one makes out of unlimited license to do wickedness, whereas the latter believes that personal freedom means personal accountability and responsibility.

As regrettable and deplorable as it is,we are approaching Civil War. The Dred Scott Decision rendered black people as less than human and mere property in the 19th century, and today a black man in the Oval Office renders an entire class of people - the unborn - as less than human and mere property in the 21st century. How ironic is that!

Know well what side you are on. If you favor social justice, distributive justice, the common good and peace at any price, then you are on the side of Obama's legions of the damned. However, if you believe that the free will God gave you means personal accountability, responsibility and integrity, then be prepared to suffer victoriously for the Faith. Jesus Christ wins in the end, NOT Barack Hussein Obama and Joseph Biden:

"The beast was caught and with it the false prophet who had performed in its sight the signs by which he led astray those who had accepted the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped its image. The two were thrown alive into the fiery pool burning with sulfur." Revelation 19:20

How to Restore the Church in America

Folks,

Isaiah chapter 6 records a vision of the Prophet Isaiah beholding the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne with Seraphim stationed above:

"...each of them had six wings: with two they veiled their faces, with two they veiled their feet, and with two they hovered aloft."

What did the wings of those Seraphim symbolize?

The two wings with which they veiled their faces symbolize respect and awe, for verse three states:

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!"

The two wings with which they velied their feet symbolize humility, for Isaiah declares in verse five:

"Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!"

The two wings with which they flew symbolize instant readiness to serve the Lord God, for when in verse eight the Lord asks whom He shall send, Isaiah replies:

"Here I am, send me!"

As Catholic Christians, we must be the pinacle example of respect and awe for the Lord, humility in word and deed, and instant readiness to serve no matter what. This is how the laity can restore the Church in America as Michael Voris has already described in his video, Restoration Not Reformation! 03-26, this last Friday.

Some More Reflections on Palm Sunday

Folks,

When the crowds, waving palm branches and shouting "Hosanna", greeted Jesus riding on a donkey into Jerusalem, what were they expecting? Having seen or heard of Jesus' many miracles in feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and even raising the dead, they clearly expected someone who would overthrow their Roman oppressors and give them social justice and peace. That is NOT what Jesus did. Yes, He went into the Temple to overthrow the money changers, but He did so NOT to distribute said money to the poor, but to restore the Temple as the House of Worship to God Almighty. So the once joyous crowd, seeing that their selfish aim for social justice in their own behalf would not reach fruition, abandoned Him till by week's end He was hanging on a Cross.

Jesus came into Jerusalem with the goal of saving men's souls, NOT to feed hungry bellies and give medicine to sick patients. This re-echoes what He told the crowds after the feeding of the Five Thousand in John 6:26-27.

"Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal."

This confirms Jesus' true intent when Judas Iscariot whined that the 300 denarii bottle of fragrant oil used by Mary, sister of Martha, to anoint Jesus could have been sold and the proceed used for social justice in behalf of the poor, for Jesus states in John 12:7-8:

"Leave her alone. Let her keep this for the day of my burial. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."

In fact, let us consider who it is that wants social justice so badly: that thief and traitor who carried the money purse for the disciples, Judas Iscariot. And today who is it that wants social justice so badly? Thieves and traitors to the True Gospel of Life. They may call themselves Christians. They may even call themselves Catholic. Indeed, some may even be Bishops just as Judas was a member of the Twelve. But their goal, one and all, is NOT the Gospel of Life. Their goal is control of the crowds, for who controls their food and their medicine controls their lives. That is NOT God's way. He wants FREE assent of the will, free repentance and free conversion. These are the things which must take place BEFORE any semblance of TRUE social justice can ever be acheived (2nd Chronicles 7:14 and Matthew 6:33)

It is time we see the truth - the end goal of Marxism (regardless of whatever key words such as social justice, distributive justice or common good that it uses) is always and everywhere the Crucifixion of all that is holy and righteous. Like Judas Iscraiot before them, these people give not one ounce of true concern for the least, the lost, the lonely. Their goal is always CONTROL, and when that goal is denied them, watch out as they go on the hunt to crucify the innocent.

Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to free captives from sin and death, NOT to feed the bellies of the hungry or give medicine to the sick, and that is exactly what Jesus did as the very people whose poor He had helped and whose hungry He had fed demanded in the courtyard of Pontius Pilate:

Crucifige eum! Crucifige eum!

No translation is needed, for this is always and everywhere the cry of the social justice crowd which sacrifices the life of an unborn baby on the altar of the common good.

Untangling the confusion about the Church

Folks,

The following column (reprinted in entirety below) by Bishop Morlino of Madison, Wisconson is quite good. Indeed, not once did I smell that putrid, vile stink of such odiferous Marxist codes words as social justice, distributive justice, common good or peace at any price. It remains to be seen, however, whether the Bishops will enforce obedience as authorized by Canon Law 915, for which the following Biblical examples set ample precendence:

St. Peter's confrontation of Ananias and Sapphira lying concerning the proceeds of their land sale in Acts 5:1-11.

St. Paul's actions over the blasphemy of Hymenaeus and Alexander in 1st Timothy 1:19-20.

St. John's statements about the punishment to be visited on the harlot Jezebel at the Church in Thyatira in Revelation 2:20-23.

The Bishops in the USCCB must start administering Holy Justice (NOT that pretender called social or distributive justice) in accordance with these Biblical examples. Nevertheless, in spite of their paralysis in publicly denying Communion to Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Patrick Leahy and the remaing apostate Catholics in Congress responsible for this pro-abortion health care bill now signed into law, I am still encouraged by Bishop Morlino's column of March 25th.

Untangling the confusion about the Church

Bishop's Column
Written by Bishop Robert C. Morlino
Thursday, Mar. 25, 2010 -- 12:00 AM

After months of political machinations, things are moving extremely quickly and we are at an advanced and critical point with regard to our discussion of healthcare legislation, to the point that, as of this writing, the House has passed the terribly deficient Senate Bill, as well as a bill making a few changes (which do nothing to help in key matters). The Senate has yet to approve these few changes and all that is really left is the President’s signature. Much can happen between my writing and your reading this, so I’d like to take a look more at what has happened, and why it is not a good thing. What will happen is still yet to be seen.

There remains a tremendous amount of confusion. The context for the health care legislation discussion has been made very strange and confused — so much simply does not make sense.

In the “Catholic world” there is, at present, another issue, and while it may not seem to have anything to do with our healthcare debate, in a sense it does. I’ll mention it and make a bit of the connection later. As the Church in Europe now uncovers some of the sins committed by its clergy members, the mass media are trying, with every fiber of their being to make Pope Benedict XVI look guilty. Their big line is, “what did the Pope know and when did he know it?” That is, “he’s to be treated like any other politician; he’s probably corrupt, and it’s our role to uncover his corruption.”

Of course, many see their role as to destroy the Church of Christ, the Catholic Church. They want us out of the way. So, a very good way to attack the Church is to attack the Holy Father himself. These same people who demand to know what the Pope knew and when he knew it want to place the responsibility for the acts of others (undertaken far away and in different time periods), at the feet of the Pope and make him responsible.

In order to be responsible for something, one has to have the authority to do something about it. And the very people who want to make the Holy Father responsible for everything heinous in the sexual misconduct scandal are the least likely to accept the Pope’s authority in any matter. They are the most disobedient people, in general. Yet they want to lay all the responsibility at the Pope’s feet. That simply makes no sense and we should not be fooled.

Contradictions abound

With regard to the healthcare legislation matter, there is the same confused discussion going on. One congressman pointed out this weekend that from the time of Roe vs. Wade, there have been certain people, including certain Catholics, who have said over and over again, “We have to protect the right of women over their own bodies.” The same people who have been saying that for 30 to 40 years are now saying, “We need our healthcare legislation package to pass, so that no one will have control over his or her body.” We can’t have it both ways. We’re into a discussion where contradictions abound. Be careful as you listen to this discussion, because it is loaded with contradictions and it’s very, very hard to sort out the truth.

What should be clear, though, is that the Catholic bishops have said that the legislation which has passed does not work for people who are of the Catholic faith and for people who follow the natural law (for all people of good will) in terms of preventing government/taxpayer funding of abortion. The Senate healthcare bill, passed by the House, with additional changes, and even with an “Executive Order” pending does not cut it — the bishops have been clear on this.

Beware of backdoor approaches

The reason is that there are “backdoor” ways in which the passed legislation continues to force taxpayers to fund abortions. There are very apparent “backdoors” in the legislation and there are not adequate and deliberate bars on those “backdoors,” and thus the legislation will very easily be manipulated to force taxpayer funding for abortion. The legislation which has passed also does not provide adequate protection for individual conscience, individual freedom, and our religious liberty — it simply doesn’t.

This legislation also does not provide, properly, for immigrants. For immigrants who are documented — immigrants welcomed legally into our country — there is a five-year wait period before they can get health insurance. How could that be fair? Documented, legal immigrants to this country have to wait here for five years before they can get health insurance coverage. And illegal immigrants are not allowed to have any health insurance, even if they can pay for it out of their own pockets.

In so many cases, in this legislation, individual freedom goes right down the tubes. The legislation is very inadequate with regard to abortion, it is very inadequate with regard to conscience protection, and it’s very inadequate with regard to care for immigrants. That is why Catholic legislators and others of good will, who understood this bill, were bound to oppose it.

Stopping the confusion

The bishops were very clear on this and it seemed that there were some Catholics, including some Catholic Democrats who were going to stand up — even in the face of almost unbearable pressure — for the Truth, for the protection of every human being. Clearly, that did not turn out to be the case. And here, too, there was an attempt to confuse. At the last minute, some Catholics and some people who seemed to be of good will were either confused themselves, really believing that an Executive Order from President Obama would work to protect innocent human life, or were hoping that the fog of confusion would conceal their real intent.

Aside from the fact that most can now see that this Executive Order would have no effect at all, much less a potentially lasting effect, there remains the truth that the right to life comes from God. Only God can give it and only God can take it away. The right to life does not come from the state. The state is obligated to uphold the natural law and to protect life, but it does not confer that right to life to us. We as Catholics, and people of good will, were asking the legislature to uphold, and to protect, that God-given right to life.

If government and if the legislature do not wish to recognize the God-given right to life, we certainly can’t rely on the President of the United States, by an Executive Order, to protect life — as if somehow the right to life comes from him. The President of the United States can take away the Executive Order next week that he mandated this week, but neither he, nor the Congress, nor the Supreme Court can take away the right to life. An Executive Order is much too weak a support for the protection of human life, and in the end, it would give the President of the United States the power to give and take away the God-given right to life. That would be far more monarchical than most Americans could handle.

Questioning authority

I cannot pass over the actions of the Catholic Health Association and an organization called Network, a lobby of American religious Sisters, who said, quite publicly, that what the bishops have taught is false. They said that the legislation does provide an adequate framework for a Catholic to follow his or her conscience about abortion. So, we had a trade organization — the Catholic Health Association — which calls itself “Catholic” and we had religious Sisters who call themselves Catholic, saying, “Sorry, bishops, you got it wrong, here is the teaching of the Church.”

The Lord Jesus Christ, unworthy though the bishops are, called the bishops to lead the people in faith; He did not call anybody in the Catholic Health Association and he did not call any of the Sisters in Network. To boot, those Sisters who signed the Network document said that they speak for 59,000 American Sisters — that would be every last Sister in the U.S. Yet, another grouping of Sisters came out publicly expressing their disagreement with Network. Unfortunately, the claim that these Sisters in Network represent all Sisters is actually what is false, not the teaching of the bishops.

And, of course, people like Speaker Pelosi could not do enough to wave the letter from the Catholic Health Association and the letter from Network to provide cover for Democratic legislators who wanted to waffle in protecting innocent human life. Speaker Pelosi is not called by Jesus Christ to lead the Catholic faithful, any more than the religious Sisters in Network are, any more than the leadership of the Catholic Health Association is.

The bishops are called to teach, sanctify, and govern. But, as I said before, with regard to the Holy Father, if people will not recognize authority, then they cannot lay responsibility at the feet of those to whom they are disobedient. The pope and the bishops are only responsible when their authority is accepted. The then-Cardinal Ratzinger himself has said, in our contemporary world, the word “obedience” has disappeared from our vocabulary and the reality of obedience has been anathematized.

In this way, very serious harm is being done to the Church because people in the Church wonder, “Who speaks for Christ? Does the Catholic Health Association speak for Christ? Does Network, an organization of religious Sisters, speak for Christ? Do they teach with the authority of the bishops? Is the bishops’ teaching just another opinion?”

Importance of Apostolic succession

If we go down this road, the teaching authority of the bishops will be further eroded and with it, the authority of Christ’s Church. Bishops are sinners, they’re not perfect; neither were the Apostles perfect at all times, they were sinners, too. In His wisdom, which we can’t understand, Jesus calls the bishops, the successors of the Apostles today, to teach the word of Christ to the people and He calls them in a way that He doesn’t call others, including priests. That’s what we mean when we say that the Church is Apostolic. The bishop is a true Apostle insofar as he teaches with the Holy Father, and the priest is a true Apostle insofar as he teaches with the bishop — that’s how it works.

Please don’t let the current discussion and certain politicians get you confused about that. And don’t let these contradictions and confusions keep you from jumping right into the discussion and speaking the truth with love. There is no more basic human rights issue for Catholics and for people of good will than the necessity of the government to protect human life from conception to natural death.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please continue to pray for me and know that I am praying for you and your loved ones as we come upon Holy Week and Easter. Praised be Jesus Christ!

Palm Sunday 2010

Folks,

My friend Shadowlands has posted a great little story at her blog site entitled:

A Donkey Reflects on "Blessed Is He Who Comes, He, the King".

I am reminded of something which Fr. Corapi pointed out in one of his sermons: that just as Jesus road a donkey into Jerusalem a little less than 2000 years ago, so also today does he ride a donkey into our places of work, education, play, etc., and sometimes that donkey is us.

There is another word for donkey. The use of that word in the sentence above, while objectionable to some, yet can help to put things into perspective. Indeed, let us all be like the donkey in Shadowlands' little story, lest we be like that three letter synonym for donkey.

Hebrews 12:1-13

Folks,

My friend Shadowlands from the United Kingdom has an uplifting blog entry this evening:

As St Paul advises, things could be worse than they are at the minute. So let's get crackin and send sin packin!

She quotes from  Hebrews 12:1-13, which we would all do well to re-read this evening.

Why is this Week Called Holy? Take This Cup

Folks,

Deacon Keith Fournier at the Catholic Online web site wrote a great short essay entitled:

Why is this Week Called Holy? Take This Cup

Five paragraphs in the middle of this entry are noteworthy:

The author of the letter to the Hebrews wrote "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin." (Hebrews 14:15)

The Christian tradition insists that even undeserved and unmerited suffering, when joined in love to the sufferings of Jesus Christ, can produce extraordinary fruit within us and around us. This is the mystery of suffering in the Christian life.

Saint Jose Maria Escriva once wrote "The great Christian revolution has been to convert pain into fruitful suffering and to turn a bad thing into something good. We have deprived the devil of this weapon; and with it we can conquer eternity."

How do we treat those circumstances that cause us to struggle? How do we deal with what we find unpleasant? Do we practice an "adult" form of avoidance and run, acting as if it will all just go away like when children cover their eyes? Or do we believe that even unpleasant things and "difficult" people can actually be gifts from the hands of a loving God who invites us to walk in the way of His Son?

How do we deal with unresolved conflicts or troubling relationships? Do we work toward resolution, making "love our aim" (1 Cor. 14:7), or do we avoid them, thinking they will just go away if we "pretend" they don´t exist?

Father Cantalamessa's 3rd Lenten Sermon

Folks,

Please left click your mouse cursor on the following web link to read:

Father Cantalamessa's 3rd Lenten Sermon

Father is talking about the recent priestly scandals which have grievously harmed the Church, but reminds the clergy that they can renew their vocations by remembering the love that first drew them to Christ. He speaks of "a return to the first fervor and love of Christ", and reviews lesson from the Prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel as well as St. John's admonitions to the Seven Churches in Asia Minor as recorded in the Book of Revelation. He urges with passion, ""Fidelity! The Holy Father has put this word as title and program of the Year for Priests: Fidelity to Christ and Fidelity of the Priest."

I for one am encouraged and uplifted to read such a sermon. This particular one should be read and internalized by every Cardinal, Archbishop, Bishop, Priest and Deacon throughout the Catholic Church. Furthermore, it's lesson to the Laity is the SAME:

"Fidelity to Christ!"

We have NO other Sovereign but Jesus Christ. He indeed is our Prophet, Priest and King, to whom we owe our allegiance and our very lives.

Again, I am truly heartened. I love our Holy Church and I love Jesus Christ.

Humor - What Contains More Plastic?

Folks,

I simply have to wonder what contains more plastic in the photograph below: Nancy Pelosi's hardhat or Nancy Pelosi's face? I suspect neither. Rather, it's her brain that contains the most plastic.

US Constitution Party - Electoral College

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

We should return to the general procedure used until the 1830s in selecting members of the Electoral College as explained below instead of the general ticket system in use today in all states except South Carolina. Implementing the right system ensures that electoral college members represent the individual congressional districts and states that elect them, and remain unbeholden to a vocal but faceless and brainless homogenous population seeking showers of gold coins from Palatine Hill. This would prevent the inequitable transfer of power from individual congressional districts to the larger cities (dominated by liberal progressive populations) at the expense of rural communities. In the current system, within large cities vicious little men representing plebians intent on voting for themselves bread and circuses from the teat of the public treasury end up dominating the entire voting process, and thus do dictators such as Obama gain power. It is 1st Samuel chapter 8 all over again. But doing what the Framers of the Constitution intended implements the principle of subsidiarity, and prevents a vocal minority of progressive leeches from overrunning those who produce actual wealth for the good of society at large.

Electoral College

Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution states, in part: "Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors, equal to the whole number of senators and representatives to which the state may be entitled in the Congress: but no senator or representative, or person holding an office of trust or profit under the United States, shall be appointed an elector." This established our Electoral College.

Although the Constitution does not require the states to adhere to any specific manner in electing these electors or how they cast their votes, it suggests, by its wording, that prominent individuals from each congressional district, and from the state at large, would be elected or appointed as electors that represent that district. Under this arrangement, a voter would vote for three individuals, one to represent his district and two "at large" representatives to represent his state. These electors, in turn, would then carefully and deliberately select the candidate for president. Under this system each congressional district could, in essence, select a different candidate. The candidate with the most electors nationwide would become the next president.

This was the general procedure used until the 1830's, at which time all the states, except for South Carolina, changed to a "general ticket."

The "general ticket" system is still in use today. Inherently, it causes corruption by the inequitable transfer of power from congressional districts to the states and large cities at the expense of rural communities.

The Constitution Party encourages states to eliminate the "general ticket" system and return to the procedure intended by the Framers

The actual NYT article is here:

There is only one reason for this: vengence for the Church's refusal to support Obamacare and abortion.

In these United States we were always worried about the possibility that the Government might control the popular press. Thus we ignored to our peril the converse: a liberal progressive press that controls the Government.

US Constitution Party - Election Reform

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

Last month we began a series of posts on the platform of the US Constitution Party, but with the rise of the Health Care Bill to prominence in Congress, your blog-master got derailed. To recover from that derailment, a listing of all previous platform topics is provided at the end of this message with embedded hyperlinks to facilitate access to the pertinent text. We will now pick up our discussion with the topic Election Reform, something that this nation is in dire need of, especially given the anti-American actions of the liberal progressives in Congress.

But before we do that, however, let us remind the reader that these United States were NEVER founded as a national democracy (two wolves and one sheep voting on what’s for dinner), but as a Christian Constitutional Republic. Thus, at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches for he had discovered the following model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he has read Isaiah 33:22:

For the LORD is our judge,
the LORD is our lawgiver,
the LORD is our king;
He will save us.

Hence the current model of the US Government:

Supreme Court
Congress
President

Furthermore, John Adams reinforced this idea of Christian governance when he stated on October 11, 1798:

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Consistent with this, 1st Samuel 8 shows us what happens with a democracy where the people remove God as King and select their own. The Children of Israel did this and got their king – Saul – and what a success story he turned out to be (sarcasm intended). Their monarchy ended abysmally with the deportation of their kings and their population to Assyria and Babylon but a few hundred years later. The people of these United States have made the same mistake in November of 2008, and now we have socialized health care, unlimited abortion, sanctified gay sex and all manner of other wickedness. It won’t be long before our Assyrians and Babylonians challenge us, and we do have them (Islamic fascists and Red China).

Yes, folks, we NEED Election Reform before what appears to be inevitable happens, but first we need to reform ourselves, otherwise we will go on repeating the same mistakes that the Children of Israel had made so long ago.

US Constitution, Article 1, Section 4, Clause 1:

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing* Senators." (*original spelling from Constitution)

The Constitutional balance of power on this matter has been destroyed by the 17th amendment. The States no longer have a representative at the Federal level. (See "Congressional Reform" plank.)

The Constitution Party seeks the restoration of an electoral process which is controlled at the state and local level and is beyond manipulation by federal judges and bureaucrats. The federal government has unconstitutionally and unwisely preempted control in matters of district boundaries, electoral procedures, and campaign activities.

The Voting Rights Act should be repealed. The Federal Election Campaign Act, including its 1974 amendments, and the Federal Election Commission should be abolished.

Each citizen should have the right to seek public office in accordance with the qualifications set forth in federal and state constitutions. Additional restrictions and obligations governing candidate eligibility and campaign procedures burden unconstitutionally the fairness and accountability of our political system.

To encourage free and fair elections, all candidates must be treated equally. We call for an end to designated "Major Party" status that gives an unfair advantage to some candidates by providing ballot access and taxpayer dollars, while requiring others for the same office to gather petition signatures or meet other, more stringent criteria.

We call for a repeal of all federal campaign finance laws (i.e. McCain-Feingold) due to their violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

In order to avoid election fraud, we urge an end to electronic or mechanical voting processes and a return to the manual counting process overseen by, and accountable to, voters resident in each precinct where the votes are cast.

Senate Republican holds up jobless benefits

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

Associated Press reports Senate Republican holds up jobless benefits.

I say good for him. Where the heck do these liberals in Washington, DC think the money is going to come from?

And why is it moral for us to saddle our grandchildren with 13 to 14 trillion dollars of debt to the Red Chinese all in the false pursuit of a Marxist idea of social justice right now?

If we really want the jobless situation to clear up then we have to repent first. No repentance - no social justice. It's that straightforward and that simple. There's Biblical precedence for this: 2nd Chronicles 7:14 and Matthew 6:33.

An Old Milwaukee Sex Abuse Scandal

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

The NY Times reported in yesterday's publication that the Vatican Declined to Defrock U.S. Priest Who Abused Boys.

Catholic News Service has issued a rebuttal: Vatican defends action in case of Wisconsin priest abuser

Damian Thompson of the UK's Telegraph agrees with Catholic News Service: The Pope and the Wisconsin sex abuse scandal: I smell a stitch-up.

My friend Catawissa Gazetteer has issued a noteworthy commentary on this and I agree with him: Have They Found the Smoking Gun.

The bottom line is this. The NY Times is liberal Democrat. As such, it hates all things authentically Catholic (the Gospel of Life, morality, righteousness, holiness) and loves all things pseudo-Catholic (social justice, common good, peace at any price). It needs to get revenge against the Church and Her Bishops for having opposed Obamacare. The sex abuse scandal surrounding a Milwaukee priest is right now the best it can do. It doesn't matter that it twists the facts to suit its fantasy. Truth is irrelevant to a liberal progressive Democrat. What matters is showing that the Church is made up of a bunch of dirty old men, and Obama is our messiah who will save us all.

BTW, the NY Times wants everyone to be gay perverts like this Milwaukee priest, except when it wants that, it's called diversity and tolerance.

The Answer!

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

From Michael Voris at Real Catholic TV, the real answer is Christi Fideles Laici (an Apostolic Exhortation by Pope John Paul II) and Opus Dei. I have gone to an Opus Dei Cooperator meeting. I am not surprised at all at Michael Voris' conclusion and rather expected it all along.

P.S. Popular Ron Howard films are remarkably filled with prejudice and propaganda against Opus Dei. Again, I am not surprised.

News Flash: 25% of Repubs Think Obama is the Antichrist

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

We now have a "news flash":

Almost a quarter of Republicans think Obama 'may be the Antichrist' as 14 states sue over healthcare reforms

What mention or memory is there of the fact that the overwhelming majority of liberal Democrats accused Bush of being Hitler and antichrist. Turnabout is simply fair play.

And the 14 States who insist on States' rights and the principle of subsidiarity, and who are suing over the illegality of Obamacare are called "rebels". Well clothe me with the cloth of the the Flag of the Confederacy!

Oh, by the way, this news article also states at the beginning:

Americans who suggest Barack Obama should rot in hell are apparently deadly serious.

If Obama fails to repent of his wickedness prior to death, then whether I want him to rot in hell or not won't be the point. He WILL rot in hell because (by his insistent and persistent refusal to obey Jesus Christ) that is what HE wants. It demonstratedly doesn't matter what I want.

But just to make things perfectly clear: I would rather Obama repent and save the lives of unborn babies whom he is otherwise murdering. However, Obama, Pelosi and the rest (my wishes to the contrary notwithstanding) obviously prefer the fate specified in Revelation 21:8:

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.

Pray that they repent and are forgiven. Pray that they convert and amend their ways. Pray that the lives of innocent babies are saved.

Faith Is NOT Opposed to Reason

Saint Albert the Great

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In our catechesis on the Christian culture of the Middle Ages, we now turn to Saint Albert, better known as Albertus Magnus, Albert the Great. A universal genius whose interests ranged from the natural sciences to philosophy and theology, Albert entered the Dominicans and, after studies in Paris, taught in Cologne. Elected provincial of the Teutonic province, he served as bishop of Regensburg for four years and then returned to teaching and writing. He played an important part in the Council of Lyons, and he worked to clarify and defend the teaching of Saint Thomas Aquinas, his most brilliant student. Albert was canonized and declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XI, and Pope Pius XII named him the patron of the natural sciences. Saint Albert shows us that faith is not opposed to reason, and that the created world can be seen as a “book” written by God and capable of being “read” in its own way by the various sciences. His study of Aristotle also brought out the difference between the sciences of philosophy and theology, while insisting that both cooperate in enabling us to discover our vocation to truth and happiness, a vocation which finds its fulfilment in eternal life.

The Executive Order

The Manhattan Declaration

Folks,

The following is the text of the Executive Order that President Obama signed in compromise with Congressman Stupak to get the Health Care Reform Bill passed into law. Unlike the signing ceremony for the Health Care Bill itself, the signing ceremony was private, did not include members of the press and did include but a small handful of pro-life Democrat politicians - sadly that's all there is any longer.

The White House

Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release March 24, 2010 Executive Order -- Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's Consistency with Longstanding Restrictions on the Use of Federal Funds for Abortion

EXECUTIVE ORDER

ENSURING ENFORCEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ABORTION RESTRICTIONS IN THE PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (Public Law 111-148), I hereby order as follows:

Section. 1. Policy. Following the recent enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the "Act"), it is necessary to establish an adequate enforcement mechanism to ensure that Federal funds are not used for abortion services (except in cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the woman would be endangered), consistent with a longstanding Federal statutory restriction that is commonly known as the Hyde Amendment. The purpose of this order is to establish a comprehensive, Government-wide set of policies and procedures to achieve this goal and to make certain that all relevant actors -- Federal officials, State officials (including insurance regulators) and health care providers -- are aware of their responsibilities, new and old.

The Act maintains current Hyde Amendment restrictions governing abortion policy and extends those restrictions to the newly created health insurance exchanges. Under the Act, longstanding Federal laws to protect conscience (such as the Church Amendment, 42 U.S.C. 300a-7, and the Weldon Amendment, section 508(d)(1) of Public Law 111-8) remain intact and new protections prohibit discrimination against health care facilities and health care providers because of an unwillingness to provide, pay for, provide coverage of, or refer for abortions.

Numerous executive agencies have a role in ensuring that these restrictions are enforced, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the Office of Personnel Management.

Sec. 2. Strict Compliance with Prohibitions on Abortion Funding in Health Insurance Exchanges. The Act specifically prohibits the use of tax credits and cost-sharing reduction payments to pay for abortion services (except in cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the woman would be endangered) in the health insurance exchanges that will be operational in 2014. The Act also imposes strict payment and accounting requirements to ensure that Federal funds are not used for abortion services in exchange plans (except in cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the woman would be endangered) and requires State health insurance commissioners to ensure that exchange plan funds are segregated by insurance companies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, OMB funds management circulars, and accounting guidance provided by the Government Accountability Office.

I hereby direct the Director of the OMB and the Secretary of HHS to develop, within 180 days of the date of this order, a model set of segregation guidelines for State health insurance commissioners to use when determining whether exchange plans are complying with the Act's segregation requirements, established in section 1303 of the Act, for enrollees receiving Federal financial assistance. The guidelines shall also offer technical information that States should follow to conduct independent regular audits of insurance companies that participate in the health insurance exchanges. In developing these model guidelines, the Director of the OMB and the Secretary of HHS shall consult with executive agencies and offices that have relevant expertise in accounting principles, including, but not limited to, the Department of the Treasury, and with the Government Accountability Office. Upon completion of those model guidelines, the Secretary of HHS should promptly initiate a rulemaking to issue regulations, which will have the force of law, to interpret the Act's segregation requirements, and shall provide guidance to State health insurance commissioners on how to comply with the model guidelines.

Sec. 3. Community Health Center Program. The Act establishes a new Community Health Center (CHC) Fund within HHS, which provides additional Federal funds for the community health center program. Existing law prohibits these centers from using Federal funds to provide abortion services (except in cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the woman would be endangered), as a result of both the Hyde Amendment and longstanding regulations containing the Hyde language. Under the Act, the Hyde language shall apply to the authorization and appropriations of funds for Community Health Centers under section 10503 and all other relevant provisions. I hereby direct the Secretary of HHS to ensure that program administrators and recipients of Federal funds are aware of and comply with the limitations on abortion services imposed on CHCs by existing law. Such actions should include, but are not limited to, updating Grant Policy Statements that accompany CHC grants and issuing new interpretive rules.

Sec. 4. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect: (i) authority granted by law or Presidential directive to an agency, or the head thereof; or (ii) functions of the Director of the OMB relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees or agents, or any other person.
