The American Catholic blogsite had a great report on "The $1 Million Chelsea Clinton Wedding":

"The estimated cost of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding this evening is $1 million* and that is a very low estimate...Coming from a scion of the Democratic Party that claims to be for the poor, this isn’t unusual. It’s a typical mindset of most Democrats that would rather take other peoples money to redistribute rather than their own for the common good...It is selfish because instead of spending the money for the poor they spent it on themselves."

Sunday's Scripture Readings for 08/01/2010 speaks directly to this. Indeed, the Democrats make true verse 21 in chapter 2 of Ecclesiastes:

"For here is a man who has labored with wisdom and knowledge and skill, and to another, who has not labored over it, he must leave his property. This also is vanity and a great misfortune."

The solution to this problem is what St. Paul points out in Colossians 3:8-10:

Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly:
immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire,
and the greed that is idolatry.
Stop lying to one another,
since you have taken off the old self with its practices
and have put on the new self,
which is being renewed, for knowledge,
in the image of its creator.

But the Clintons with their multimillion dollar wedding, John Kerry and his multimillion dollar yacht that he home-ports in Rhode Island to avoid his home state's taxes, and all Democratic politicians for that matter, are like the rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest that Jesus recounts to us in Luke 12:13-21. What does God say to these people?
 
"You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?"
 
We now come full circle back to Ecclesiastes 2:21 where we started.
 
By the way, as the American Catholic blogsite points out, in comparison Jenna Bush’s wedding only cost $100,000. That's still "obscene", but who is worse? Conservative Republicans or Liberal Democrats? I say Liberal Democrats, and it's not a matter of money spent but of hypocrisy. Democrats parade themselves as generous and compassionate for the poor, portraying Republicans as vicious money-hungry, Capitalists without human decency or compassion. Yet Democrats are the very ones who promote laws that murder the unborn within the mother's womb and they call that the right to choose. They equivocate as a human right a man putting his reproductive organ into another man's fecal orifice or mouth, and then demand to "sanctify" that as marriage. And they spent your money and mine on party extravaganzas and yachts.
 
The story is clear. Republicans aren't much better, but Democrats are truly demonic. Baby murders. Filthy, dirty sodomists. Thieves of the working man's money from the public treasury. Wanton, promiscuous, idolatrous hypocrites. But when their lives are demanded of them, there will be much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth because there is no appeal before the throne of the Lord God of Hosts. That's what's in store for anyone who refuses obedience to God's Love which is God's Justice: "Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free", Republican or Democrat.

Corrupt Democratic Politicians

Folks,

Beyond their sadly usual corruption in supporting the legitimatization of gay marriage and the legalization of the murder of unborn babies, two Democrats (Rep. Rangel of NY State and Rep Walters of Calif) are facing actual charges of other corruption from within their own party of death. Now the point in all this is NOT that Republicans are "better" than Democrats. That is hardly the case. The point is that many people were hoodwinked in 2008 into voting for the Democrats and that party's current antichrist because of the corruption in the Republican Party. So all people did was exchange one corrupt party for an even worse corrupt party. Why are the Democrats worse than the Republicans? Because in addition to the type of corruption presented in the examples below, the Democratic Party believes it is perfectly normal and natural for a man to put his reproductive appendage in the fecal orifice or mouth of another man, and that it's perfectly in accord with the principles of liberty to torture till dead by cutting into pieces a living baby with the womb of his mother. Yes, folks, those words do not paint a pretty picture, but we must acknowledge the kind of nefarious and pernicious and malevolent politicians who run the country from Washington, DC. These people are EVIL, and it is against such people that the prophet Jeremiah spoke so long ago in ancient Judah, warning them of the coming destruction from Babylonian captivity. We know this from this past week's daily Scripture readings.

Observations about a Dating Web Site

Folks,

As most of you may already be aware, sadly I am divorced (not by my choice). Having been married under a Justice of the Peace some time ago, I was informed (by clergy) that obtaining an annulment will be "easy". It has been more than three years since the breakup and time for me to move on. So I have been frequenting a dating web site in searching for someone. Obviously, I have decided that I will not be alone and I cannot overemphasize that. But I am very picky and my profile is very limiting. I have written letters to more than a dozen various "prospects". Only Protestant evangelical girls respond - they are the only ones serious about their faith and none of them want to date a Catholic. They all give good excuses when they thank me for my interest (and they are the ONLY ones to ever respond), but the bottom line is that word "Catholic". And most of the Catholic girls seem totally uninformed about the Faith. Indeed I would not date a one of them, so abysmally ignorant and dismissive of God and the Church are they. A few other girls who do identify themselves in their profiles as Catholics and who are serious about their Faith (e.g., quoting Scripture in their write-up or identifying God as number one in their lives) almost invariably go to "non-denominational churches". What a sad commentary on our Church. The girls who would go out with me are Protestants or Catholic converts to Protestantism, and won't date me, and the girls of my own religion don't know a darn thing about the Faith and could care less. This is the legacy of liberalism and progressivism in the Catholic Church.

But no matter - I will find someone even if she is Protestant. And if I had to marry in a Protestant church - well, quite frankly, folks, I am at the end of my rope. Right now (if you've been following this blogsite) I am pretty disgusted with the Church in America, especially the USCCB. I am sick and tired of the luvy-duvy, uninspired, inspid, lifeless and vapid horse crap homilies on Sunday morning full of social justice and peace at any price, and nothing about repentance, conversion, righteousness and holiness. I am absolutely disgusted with the abysmal ignorance of Scripture, and when I talk about Scripture with my Protestant friends, they can't believe that I actually know something about the Bible because most Catholics whom they have met are without any such training. I am ashamed and appalled at the national direction of the USCCB, their failure to confront pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage politicians, and the public scandal all this causes. Protestants laugh at us! Why should girls at this dating web site who were once Catholic and left for Pentecostal or Evangelical denominations ever want to come back to the Church? This is perhaps true about any Pentecostal or Evangelical regardless of gender. The majority of homilies our priests give say NOTHING but vapid assurrances of peace at any price. Our bishops give NOTHING but political platitudes and ingratiate themselves with the liberal left at any opportunity. So we end up with a laity having NO respect for the Body and Blood of our Lord and Saviour in Holy Eucharist at Mass, and NO knowledge of Sacred Scripture.

Sorry for the venting. But sometimes I just have to say what's on my mind. As Catawissa Gazetteer points out, the Church united with our Holy Father in Rome is THE Church founded upon the Rock that is Peter. But that's not what passes for the Church in America any longer. It may be a diocese here or a parish there, but it isn't the national collection affiliated with the USCCB. Hmmmmm....I started out talking about a dating web site and ended up here. How odd.

More Readings from Jeremiah

Folks,

Today's Scripture Readings began with Jeremiah 18:1-6, but we need the read all the way through verse 17 to see the applicability to our current situation. Can you not hear the prophet saying these words in the streets of our own cities within these United States? Time grows short. We say as the children of Judah did to Jeremiah so long ago:

"We will follow our own devices; each one of us will behave according to the stubbornness of his evil heart."

And God's response is one of true justice, not some false pretense at what passes for social justice these days:

"Like the east wind, I will scatter them before their enemies; I will show them my back, not my face, in their day of disaster."

I doubt that message came out in the homily on the parable of the potter and the clay at today's daily Mass. The shepherds don't know how to shepherd any longer.

US NRC Disapproves of Areva's Digital I&C Design

This may seem like an odd post for this blogsite, but if you bother to read through it and get to the last paragraph, then you'll understand why this is posted here. As some of you may know, there are several different designs from some major competitors in the bid to build new nuclear generation in this country and abroad:

Toshiba-Westinghouse's AP-1000 Pressurized Water Reactor
General Electric - Hitachi's Advanced Boiling Water Reactor and Economically Simplified Boiling Water Reactor
Mitshubishi's US Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor
Areva's US Evolutionary Power Reactor

Just the other day the US NRC (the US federal agency charged with regulating all things nuclear) issued the following news announcement:

NRC Informs Areva of Safety Issues with EPR Reactor Design's Computer Systems

The issue is that there is insufficient or inadequate separation between safety and non-safety computerized divisons, and between one safety divison and another. Power-Gen Worldwide explains it in this way:

The areas of concern identified in in a letter from the NRC to Areva center on design complexity and independence issues. Each safety division within the nuclear power plant system must be able to perform its function without relying on data from outside and must also be protected from adverse external influences. Areva must demonstrate that these issues have been addressed to the regulator's satisfaction and show that data exchange between systems will not adversely affect nuclear power plant safety.


Independence between routine nuclear reactor control systems and the systems that maintain safety in unusual conditions is needed because some of the safety systems protect against the failure of control systems. For that reason it should be impossible for them to fail together. The independence of systems in the EPR design has been brought into question by regulators before. In November 2009, British, French and Finnish regulators jointly urged Areva to revise the reactor's control systems because of complex interconnectivity.

Now what is interesting in all this is that Areva was told about this problem perhaps two full years ago by both our own federal regulator and three European ones, BUT Areva continued in its arrogance to assume that its software prioritizations scheme - hair brained at best - would not only work but be accepted in regulatory space. The answer is NEIN, NEIN, NEIN (that word is used because it was Siemens, a German company, who designed the I&C platform for the French Areva). Anybody with two living brain cells left knows that safety divisions cannot be interconnected with other safety divisions or non-safety divisions lest faults in another division (safety or non-safety) propagate and either prevent prevent safety function actuation when needed or inadvertently generate such a function when not needed. No software prioritization module to allow such interconnectivity could ever be guaranteed to work correctly all the time because all software has bugs in it. That's the whole reason for independance, separation, diversity, defense in depth, isolation, and determinacy in designing digital instrumentation and controls systems (along with all the software lifecycle processes of safety analyses, verification and validation, requirements traceability, etc.). Now Areva has to do an about face and spend millions of more dollars to come up with a replacement design that will satisfy all the regulators, European and US.
 
This could have been avoided up front by applying some basic moral virtues, starting with integrity and honesty with the customer, and some down-home humility, for example, doing what the regulator suggests (if two years ago regulators in four different nations say "NEIN", then by golly, take a hint!). But those virtues aren't a part of the corporate structure any longer in just about any major US or European conglomerate. It used to be that businesses once had a vision that extended well beyond money, and morality and ethics didn't have to be taught at corporate-speak meetings - workers and business leaders alike were Christians, went to Church on Sunday, and believed in things like that. But now most are neo-pagans in a post-modern society where only next calendar quarter's stock perfomance matters. So money becomes god instead of God being God.
 
Of course the solution is never MORE government regulation. The solution is repentance and conversion from the CEO of the corporation down to the lowliest clerk. 2nd Chronicles 7:14 rings loud and clear and it applies without distinction to ALL of us (not just Areva who was unlucky enough to get caught):
 
And if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land.
 
I know - that's Old Covenant, so how about Matthew 6:33?
 
But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.
 
Let Areva be an example to us: do the right thing first instead of looking for shortcuts to cut costs. There "ain't no shortcuts" to being and doing right.

GE pays $23m after Iraq probe

It is with interest to note that according to London's Finanical Times, "GE pays $23m after Iraq probe":

General Electric has agreed to pay $23.5m to settle allegations from US regulators that its subsidiaries bribed Iraqi officials to win contracts under the United Nations Oil for Food Programme between 2000 and 2003.

The settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission is the second in as many years for GE. Last year, the company agreed to pay $50m to resolve charges of accounting fraud relating to hedging activities in 2002 and 2003.

This is the same multinational corporation that owns the National Broadcasting Network whose archormen and women and whose reporters worked tooth and nail to get Obama elected, and now work tooth and nail to keep him in office looking unsullied by the corruption he has brought with him.

By the way, what exactly is GE doing in trying to win a UN "Oil for Food" contract (in a world dominated by fossil fuel) when it is supposed to be designing and marketing advanced nuclear reactors? That's like Obama pushing through a national health care plan that authorizes and supports federally funded abortions, then signs an executive order to prohibit such, knowing full well it is without effect.

Oh, and one last thing: GE Health Care (or at least its affiliates) does perform embryonic stem cell research contrary to Dignitas Personae:

Another noteworthy video from Michael Voris follows. Liberal progressive clerics who preach the false gospel of social justice and peace at any price while ingratiating themselves with the gay liberation and pro-choice crowd are finally being exposed for who and what they are, thanks to the internet (as Mr. Voris points out). Sadly, we have at least two here in the Wilmington, NC area, each one at a different parish. Such clerics would rather sign petitions against the death penalty for convicted murderers all to the accolades of the liberal progressive crowd than to even pray for an end to abortion during the prayers of the faithful at Sunday Morning Mass. (One of these nit wits, much to my surprise, even had the audacity to offer a public prayer at Sunday Morning Mass for "those who buy books but don't read them," but he has yet to even once pray for the unborn.) Such clerics would never dare dream of preaching what Humane Vitae states, and at every turn they twist the Catechism to suit their own self-serving purposes of ingratiating themselves with their Democrat friends in political office. But if one points this out, then one will be called Republican partisan even if one is a Constitutionalist (or perhaps especially if one is a Constitutionalist). I guess it's not partisan in their book to speak the Democratic Party line at every turn.

Yet these liberal progressive clerics can no longer hide behind the pulpit, making airs of holiness. The Prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel spoke at length of the fate God has in store for such shepherds who fail to shepherd, and it ain't pretty. Michael Voris and others like him are exposing their filth to the light of day. Let us pray that they repent and convert; otherwise, let them go join Bishopress Schori's collection of fruitcakes and nuts in the episcopacy of the ECUSA. The Episcopal Church with its heresy of women priests, gay marriage, gay priests and bishops, pro-choice advocacy, etc., is well suited to these "priests" and "prophets".

Eight Problems with the New START

Folks,

Mitt Romney has written an insightful essay at National Review Online entitled, "Eight Problems with the New START". START is the Stategic Arms Reduction Treaty between the US and Russia. A summary of these eight problems is provided below:

1. New START does limit U.S. missile-defense options. First, New START’s preamble not only references missile defense, it accedes to Russia’s insistence that there is an interrelationship between strategic offensive weapons and missile defense.

2. We should not countenance Russia’s ten-to-one tactical-nuclear-weapons advantage. These weapons constitute a real threat to our forces abroad, and to our allies in Europe and Asia. Russian-military spokesmen have asserted that they will rely on their tactical nuclear weapons to dominate regional or local conflicts near their borders.

3. Under New START, America gives and Russia gets. Prior to the New START negotiations, the Russian press projected that by 2012, Russia would have fewer than 500 launchers and 1,500 strategic nuclear weapons (using New START counting rules) because of the aging of its systems. The New START limits therefore do not require a change of course for Russia...

4. Counting multiple-warhead bombers as only one warhead, as New START does, is a problem for America, not a plus. Yes, we currently have more long-range bombers than the Russians. But Russia has embarked on at least one new long-range bomber program. Russia also is developing a new long-range air-launched nuclear cruise missile. We, on the other hand, are doing neither.

5. The absence of any mention of rail-based launchers should be remedied.

6. Contrary to our long-held policy objectives, New START gives Russia an incentive to MIRV its weapons — that is, equip single ballistic missiles to deliver warheads to different targets.

7. The New START verification program is inadequate.

8. Russia has succeeded in restricting not only our strategic nuclear capacity and missile-defense program but also our strategic conventional capability. Any of our existing land- or submarine-based launchers fitted with conventional weapons would count toward New START’s launcher limits.

Now the United States Council of Catholic Bishops has come out in favor of this deadly and disasterous treaty in its Action Alert on New Start Treaty issued in May, 2010. I for one am disgusted and appalled at the sheer ignorance and stupidity of the liberal democrat bishops running the USCCB. The country is going to hell in a hand basket as we glorify abortion and gay marriage, and now capitulate our strategic defense to our mortal enemies. And nowhere on the USCCB web site is there any call to holiness, righteousness, repentance or conversion. Instead, these liberal progressive throwbacks to the hippie days of the 1960s advocate disarmament at any cost, and then they call that social justice and peace.

Today's Old Testament readings speak directly to the current plight our nation is in, for we have forgotten what John Adams said on October 11, 1798:

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege

In response to a reader's comment that I am racist because I used the word "Negro" (i.e., those of Congoid or Capoid descent) in one of my posts, I defer to the words of James Webb, a Democratic Senator from Virgina in his opinion piece entitled "Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege" in the Wall Street Journal. It is a rare occasion indeed when I find myself agreeing with a Democrat, but there you have it, folks:

The NAACP believes the tea party is racist. The tea party believes the NAACP is racist. And Pat Buchanan got into trouble recently by pointing out that if Elena Kagan is confirmed to the Supreme Court, there will not be a single Protestant Justice, although Protestants make up half the U.S. population and dominated the court for generations.

Forty years ago, as the United States experienced the civil rights movement, the supposed monolith of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant dominance served as the whipping post for almost every debate about power and status in America. After a full generation of such debate, WASP elites have fallen by the wayside and a plethora of government-enforced diversity policies have marginalized many white workers. The time has come to cease the false arguments and allow every American the benefit of a fair chance at the future.

I have dedicated my political career to bringing fairness to America's economic system and to our work force, regardless of what people look like or where they may worship. Unfortunately, present-day diversity programs work against that notion, having expanded so far beyond their original purpose that they now favor anyone who does not happen to be white.

In an odd historical twist that all Americans see but few can understand, many programs allow recently arrived immigrants to move ahead of similarly situated whites whose families have been in the country for generations. These programs have damaged racial harmony. And the more they have grown, the less they have actually helped African-Americans, the intended beneficiaries of affirmative action as it was originally conceived.

How so?

Lyndon Johnson's initial program for affirmative action was based on the 13th Amendment and on the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which authorized the federal government to take actions in order to eliminate "the badges of slavery." Affirmative action was designed to recognize the uniquely difficult journey of African-Americans. This policy was justifiable and understandable, even to those who came from white cultural groups that had also suffered in socio-economic terms from the Civil War and its aftermath.

The injustices endured by black Americans at the hands of their own government have no parallel in our history, not only during the period of slavery but also in the Jim Crow era that followed. But the extrapolation of this logic to all "people of color"—especially since 1965, when new immigration laws dramatically altered the demographic makeup of the U.S.—moved affirmative action away from remediation and toward discrimination, this time against whites. It has also lessened the focus on assisting African-Americans, who despite a veneer of successful people at the very top still experience high rates of poverty, drug abuse, incarceration and family breakup.

Those who came to this country in recent decades from Asia, Latin America and Africa did not suffer discrimination from our government, and in fact have frequently been the beneficiaries of special government programs. The same cannot be said of many hard-working white Americans, including those whose roots in America go back more than 200 years.

Contrary to assumptions in the law, white America is hardly a monolith. And the journey of white American cultures is so diverse (yes) that one strains to find the logic that could lump them together for the purpose of public policy.

The clearest example of today's misguided policies comes from examining the history of the American South.

The old South was a three-tiered society, with blacks and hard-put whites both dominated by white elites who manipulated racial tensions in order to retain power. At the height of slavery, in 1860, less than 5% of whites in the South owned slaves. The eminent black historian John Hope Franklin wrote that "fully three-fourths of the white people in the South had neither slaves nor an immediate economic interest in the maintenance of slavery."

The Civil War devastated the South, in human and economic terms. And from post-Civil War Reconstruction to the beginning of World War II, the region was a ravaged place, affecting black and white alike.

In 1938, President Franklin Roosevelt created a national commission to study what he termed "the long and ironic history of the despoiling of this truly American section." At that time, most industries in the South were owned by companies outside the region. Of the South's 1.8 million sharecroppers, 1.2 million were white (a mirror of the population, which was 71% white). The illiteracy rate was five times that of the North-Central states and more than twice that of New England and the Middle Atlantic (despite the waves of European immigrants then flowing to those regions). The total endowments of all the colleges and universities in the South were less than the endowments of Harvard and Yale alone. The average schoolchild in the South had $25 a year spent on his or her education, compared to $141 for children in New York.

Generations of such deficiencies do not disappear overnight, and they affect the momentum of a culture. In 1974, a National Opinion Research Center (NORC) study of white ethnic groups showed that white Baptists nationwide averaged only 10.7 years of education, a level almost identical to blacks' average of 10.6 years, and well below that of most other white groups. A recent NORC Social Survey of white adults born after World War II showed that in the years 1980-2000, only 18.4% of white Baptists and 21.8% of Irish Protestants—the principal ethnic group that settled the South—had obtained college degrees, compared to a national average of 30.1%, a Jewish average of 73.3%, and an average among those of Chinese and Indian descent of 61.9%.

Policy makers ignored such disparities within America's white cultures when, in advancing minority diversity programs, they treated whites as a fungible monolith. Also lost on these policy makers were the differences in economic and educational attainment among nonwhite cultures. Thus nonwhite groups received special consideration in a wide variety of areas including business startups, academic admissions, job promotions and lucrative government contracts.

Where should we go from here? Beyond our continuing obligation to assist those African-Americans still in need, government-directed diversity programs should end.

Nondiscrimination laws should be applied equally among all citizens, including those who happen to be white. The need for inclusiveness in our society is undeniable and irreversible, both in our markets and in our communities. Our government should be in the business of enabling opportunity for all, not in picking winners. It can do so by ensuring that artificial distinctions such as race do not determine outcomes.

Memo to my fellow politicians: Drop the Procrustean policies and allow harmony to invade the public mindset. Fairness will happen, and bitterness will fade away.

In a post on Wednesday at this blogsite reference was made to Jeremiah chapter 7 while discussing the problems that afflict these United States; and lo and behold, today's Old Testament Reading is Jeremiah 7:1-10:

The following message came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
Stand at the gate of the house of the LORD,
and there proclaim this message:
Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah
who enter these gates to worship the LORD!
Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel:
Reform your ways and your deeds,

Now tomorrow's Old Testament Reading is from Genesis 18:20-32, and as we all know, not even ten righteous men could be found in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah where homosexual filth, idolatory, adultery, fornication and murder reigned supreme. So the Lord destroyed those cities with fire.

Now today how many righteous men can be found in these United States while measures are taken to legalize homosexual marriage and expand the infanticide of the unborn? As the people of Judah declared in the time of Jeremiah the prophet, "We are safe; we can commit all these abominations..."

NOT!

So came the Babylonians just as Jeremiah predicted. Millennia ago God used those evil pagans to discipline His choosen people to bring about His holy will. In like manner He can use today's evil Islamists and Red Chinese to discipline the people of these United States and thereby bring about His holy will once again. We are NOT safe as the children of Judah falsely hoped for themselves. Indeed, we are NOT exempt from God's justice simply because we are NOT exempt from God's love, for the Lord reproveth him whom He loveth, and we're about to get a whole lot of loving.

Evita - The Money Kept Rolling In

The American Catholic blogsite has today featured an excellent video today entitled, "Madonna - Evita - 14 And The Money Kept Rolling In." Madonna Louise Ciccone plays Eva Peron, a "charismatic clueless demagogue who bankrupts [Argentina] with hare-brained policies" that prey on the needs and wants of the poor and the destitute. Antonio Banderas plays a worker named Che singing the song of adulation to Ms. Peron who is characterized in placards that the crowds hold up as some sort of "Madonna" (this was the perfect role for Ms. Ciccone).

Pay attention, dear reader, to the words Che sings - the lyrics are given at the entry entitled, "And The Money Kept Rolling In". This is the government of Barack HUSSEIN Obama, another charismatic clueless demagogue who is bankrupting these United States with hare-brained policies that prey on the needs and wants of the poor and the destitute.

Demagogues rarely go out of power peacefully, but fortunately Eva Peron did, yet she is still revered in Argentina. People are stupid - let a leader promise them a chicken in every basket and they'll adore him or her perpetually regardless of whatever crimes are committed. Such are the consequences God told the prophet Samuel in 1st Samuel chapter 8 to warn the children of Israel about in selecting their own King.

NRC Issues Annual Report on Abnormal Occurrences for FY2009

The US NRC (the federal regulator in the United States for the civilian use of nuclear energy) has released a news announcement entitled, "NRC Issues Annual Report on Abnormal Occurrences for FY2009".

This report - NUREG-0090 Volume 32 - discusses nine events that occurred at licensed medical facilities during 2009, but there were no abnormal occurrences at the 104 NRC-licensed nuclear power reactors during that same period of time. NONE. ZERO. NIHIL.

Obviously the performance of the petroleum industry does not compare, nor with its mining disasters the coal industry. Yet we rely on petroleum for virtually all our transportation needs, and on coal for more than 50% of our electricity needs. Now what's wrong with that picture?

By the way, please remember that the average physician wouldn't know the difference between an alpha particle and a gamma ray, or a millirem and a millicurie. Yet physicians routinely prescribe all manner of radiation treatments to an unsuspected public whom the liberal news media has indoctrinated to trust the medical industry and distrust the nuclear industry. Such is the irony of liberal "Amerika".

The New Racial Mess

A reader objected to the descriptor "Negro" as offensive in the text below. The word was NOT intended to be used in an offensive sense. Please see my response to the reader in the Comments box. It is annoying to have to always watch one's self to be politically correct. Suffice it to say that God created everyone equal in dignity, regardless of race. Of course, that does not mean equal in ability. We are all different and God likes diversity (to use a liberal term).

Victor David Hanson has written a great article at National Review Online entitled, "The New Racial Mess." Obama - the first "post-racial" and the first part Negro, part Caucasian President - has done more to inflame racism in this country than any other President of recent memory.

By the way, not a single Caucasian liberal would ever have voted for Negro Condelezza Rice had she run for President, and no charges of racism were ever brought against them in spite of their villification of her when she was a part of Bush's cabinet. Yet anyone - especially a Caucasian - who opposes Obama is accused of being racist.

Personally, I don't give one hoot that Obama is part Negro and part Caucasian. That's an accident of birth. I oppose him because he advances the infanticide of the unborn, he passes measures glorify homosexual filth across the nation, he declares to Muslim nations that America is NOT a Christian nation (though she was founded as such), he refuses to salute the Flag, he advances all manner of iniquity and idolatry, he disrespects Christianity and all it stands for, he passes a Marxist health care bill into law when the majority in the nation said no, he destroys the country's space program and nuclear energy program - I could endlessly go on. I oppose Obama because he is UN-American and UN-Christian - period, and I say the same about Caucasian Nancy Pelosi and Caucasian Harry Reid. But I'll be called a racist for such sentiments.

Can it be said that Arlen Specter is a Randian?

For those of you who may not be familiar with Ayn Rand, Objectivism or Randianism, please read "Ayn Rand: Architect of the Culture of Death" at the Catholic Education Resource Center.

Lawrence Auster has a great little discussion on Arlen Specter at his View from the Right blog site entitled, "Can it be said that Arlen Specter is a Randian?" I find this interesting since both Ayn Rand was a Jew and Arlen Specter is a Jew. Their respective political philosophies - each opposed to the other - make them both traitors to the Holy Torah. But that isn't the point here. What is the point is a most noteworthy excerpt from Mr. Auster's article:

What is exceedingly odd about the Randian ethical system, but which to my knowledge has rarely been pointed out, is that it assumes that the man who lives solely for himself and not for others will be ethical in the ordinary sense: he won't steal, he won't give false witness, etc. But what is the source of such precepts? Randian man claims not to take his ethical values from other people, nor from religious guidance, nor, indeed, from any source outside his own ego. Therefore the moral imperative not to steal, not to murder, not to desire one's neighbor's possessions, not to commit adultery with one's neighbor's wife, can come from nowhere but from within the Randian man's own self. To be ethical in the ordinary sense, Randian man needs no authority external to or higher than his own will. But is it true that ordinary ethical behavior comes solely from within one's selfish, chosen values? All human experience tells us that it is not.

In this the Liberals and Progressives (like Arlen Specter) are in agreement with the Randians and Objectivists (like Ayn Rand): man is his own god deciding what is moral and not moral, what is good and evil, based solely on his own selfish ego. That is the principle and primary and first sin in the Garden of Eden:

Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the animals that the LORD God had made. The serpent asked the woman, "Did God really tell you not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?" The woman answered the serpent: "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; it is only about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, 'You shall not eat it or even touch it, lest you die.'" But the serpent said to the woman: "You certainly will not die! No, God knows well that the moment you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods who know what is good and what is bad." Genesis 3:1-5

Thus are the Liberals and the Randians equally satanic and demonic. One look at Arlen Specter and his political record of selfishness and self-serving demogoguery should be enough to substantiate this.

Michael Voris quite accurately describes the decline of the popularity of the Democratic Congress and the president, and how the bishops within the USCCB have consistently supported the Democrat Party for the past 50 + years. Yet ironically, whenever anyone supports Conservative or Constitutional principles, one is accused of being partisan. As Mr. Voris states it, the American Bishops should be glad of the Conservative revolution turning the nation, because in the liberal revolution of Robespierre's France, the French Bishops lost their heads - literally. And that is the essential difference: liberals will kill those who disagree with their brand of "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity" - the rallying cry of murderers the world over since 1789 in France.

Reuters has an interesting report entitled, "Analysis: Race issues beset Obama's 'post-racial' presidency". A few excerpts are noteworthy:

The issue surfaced this week when the Agriculture Department pushed a black official to resign after allegations she discriminated against a white farmer, only to apologize a day later for acting too quickly and without the facts...

...Last July -- in the heat of the White House fight for its healthcare overhaul -- when Obama was subjected to scathing criticism for saying police had "acted stupidly" when they arrested Harvard University scholar Henry Louis Gates, who is black, on charges he was breaking into his own home.

More recently, the Justice Department dismissed voter intimidation charges against the New Black Panther Party, prompting criticism from conservative groups who said the black president was unwilling to prosecute fellow blacks for civil rights violations...

In the meantime, the NAACP (an organization devoted specifically to the ascendancy of one racial group over all others - now how is that NOT racist?) accuses Tea Party members of racism (ignoring the fact that black, brown, red, yellow and white Conservatives have joined this movement).

No one race of people deserves more benefits or more privileges than any other. Indeed, it is not possible to give one race of people more human rights than any other because all human rights descend from the individual right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and that right devolves from God Himself. Man does not give it. All that government can do is to deny expression of that basic right (murder, enslave or steal from the individual) and the subsidiary rights that descend therefrom, and grant special benefits and privilges to select groups. Thus, the Founding Fathers of this nation sought to limit the powers of government to prevent this from occurring. Thus did John Adams state on October 11, 1798:

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Yet today we see the rise of secular national socialist democracy over what this country was founded as: a Christian Constitutional Republic. The last time I checked, national socialist or nationalsozialistische is the long-hand for Nazi, and it is precisely this which Tea Party members oppose. God has been rejected and now select groups of people privileged solely on the basis of their support for the first President whose accident of birth was a skin color of brown cry charges of racism against those of European descent while they themselves squandor the wealth of what was once a great nation.

By the way please read the entry and watch the video at Catwissa Gazetteer's web site, entitled. "Racism at the NAACP - Tell Me It's Not True!". Perhaps since my accident of birth is a skin color of white, I will now be accused of being racist because I oppose special privilges and benefits for any group based on skin color, including white.

Today's Old Testament Reading

Folks,

As most know, today's Old Testament Reading came from Jeremiah 1:1, 4-10, but the entirety of chapter 1 is applicable. The prophet Jeremiah was to face successive Kings of Judah with all their courts, each more corrupt than the previous, and the priestly caste that supported such corruption. He was to face idolatory, sacrifice of little children by fire, adultery, fornication, apostasy, rebellion, and every other manner of evil. Verse 10 states quite clearly:

This day I set you over nations and over kingdoms, To root up and to tear down, to destroy and to demolish, to build and to plant.

Jeremiah was not selected for a message of love, but a message of justice (and this wasn't the weak-kneed, yellow-bellied, cowardly socialism masquerading as social justice that the USCCB passes as Christian virtue). Delivering the message of justice was a difficult and daunting task for him and his secretary Baruch, for they had to alone face all the corrupt governmental and religious authorities of ancient Judah. The message to be delivered was one of utter, unremitting and overwhelming punishment for evil. As Michael Voris pointed out in the previous post, God hates evil, and we have to remember exactly what evil this was. Verses 30 and 31 in chapter 7 are quite clear:

The people of Judah have done what is evil in my eyes, says the LORD. They have defiled the house which bears my name by setting up in it their abominable idols. In the Valley of Ben-hinnom they have built the high place of Topheth to immolate in fire their sons and their daughters, such a thing as I never commanded or had in mind.

Can any of us imagine the horror of casting one's own little child into fire to be burned alive until dead? That is what the children of Judah did. Thus, God declared in verses 32 through 34:

Therefore, beware! days will come, says the LORD, when Topheth and the Valley of Ben-hinnom will no longer be called such, but rather the Valley of Slaughter. For lack of space, Topheth will be a burial place. The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the field, which no one will drive away. In the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem I will silence the cry of joy, the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land will be turned to rubble.

We in these United States would do well to remember this. At 1.1 million abortions every year, we murder approximately 3011 babies every day. That's more than 125 babies every hour, or more than two babies every minute. If the Lord God promised that the people of Judah who burned their little children alive (at mere thousands per year, not millions) as sacrifice to Ba'al, Molech and Asherah would in turn become corpses for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field to feed upon, then exactly what do we Americans expect or even deserve? God LOVES little babies, born and unborn, and we are going to find out exactly how much He loves little babies.

This is the message to be delivered and it ain't pretty because what we do to unborn babies ain't pretty. We live under the same kind of corrupt government with Obama and his legions from hell, and under the same kind of corrupt priestly caste (a USCCB overrun by liberalism and progressivism) that Jeremiah lived under in ancient Judah. But God gave His promise in verses 17 through 19 of Jeremiah chapter 1:

But do you gird your loins; stand up and tell them all that I command you. Be not crushed on their account, as though I would leave you crushed before them; For it is I this day who have made you a fortified city, A pillar of iron, a wall of brass, against the whole land: Against Judah's kings and princes, against its priests and people. They will fight against you, but not prevail over you, for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.

The Lord will deliver His servants, and will crush and vanquish the evil of liberalism and progressivism:

Then the LORD God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, you shall be banned from all the animals and from all the wild creatures; On your belly shall you crawl, and dirt shall you eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel." Genesis 3:14-15

Thought for the Evening - Hate is Good!

By the way, Jesus Himself hated:

"But you [the Church at Ephesus] have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans [heretics], which I also hate." Revelation 2:6

Furthermore, St. Paul commanded the Church at Rome to hate:

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." Romans 12:9

Pray for Obama

Folks,

I sent the following text in an e-mail to some friends, mostly Protestant, earlier today. I admit that it is unusual for me to be this charitable towards the current President, but a rare moment of lucidity and sanity siezed me.

The more I thought about the example of King Manasseh in 2nd Kings 21 and 2nd Chronicles chapter 33, the more I came to realize that we need to pray for Obama's conversion. Verses 11 through 17 in 2nd Chronicles 33 speak of Manasseh's imprisonment by the Assyrians and how that's what it took for him to repent. One excerpt is noteworthy:

In this distress, he began to appease the LORD, his God. He humbled himself abjectly before the God of his fathers and prayed to him.

The Prayer of Manasseh (which is found in the Greek Septuagint and the Greek Orthodox Bible, but not in the Catholic or Protestant Bibles) records Manasseh's repentance:

Let's pray that Obama doesn't have to be led away by a nose ring to Mecca in order to repent. That would be disasterous for the country. But unless we one and all repent, we can expect a fate no different that what Judah and Israel received for their apostasy, heresy and rebellion. We need to remember Luke 13:1-5:

At that time some people who were present there told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had ingled with the blood of their sacrifices. He said to them in reply, "Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans? By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did! Or those eighteen people who were killed when the tower at Siloam fell on them __ do you think they were more guilty than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem? By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!"

God shows no partiality to either Jew or Greek, and the flip side of the coin whose head is God's love and mercy is God's justice and reproof. So pray for Obama's conversion. That's about all we can do. Remember: if God can deal with Pharoah, then God can deal with Obama.

"McConnell said some in his party would back certain elements of comprehensive energy reform, including nuclear power and clean-coal technology. But they wouldn't get behind Democrats’ efforts to seize on the spill to pass an energy tax on corporations, which he said would be passed down to consumers."

The answer is nuclear energy, but Obama has appointed an anti-nuclear energy activist as Chairman of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This man - Gregory Jackzo - worked as science advisor for Democrat Representative Ed Markey from Massachusetts against the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant just south of Boston, MA, and as science advisor for Senator Harry Reid of Nevada against the Yucca Mountain spent fuel repository, towards which the nation's utilities (by mandate that former Democrat President Jimmy Carter had passed) have already paid 30 + billlion dollars. In the meantime, British Petroleum had contributed money to Obama than any other candidate in the 2008 election. Does anyone here see a smoking gun? Or is the smoke from the burning oil in the Gulf of Mexico? Or perhaps its the smoke from the burning marijuana that the liberal progressives who call themselves pro-nuclear are using?

Just as on a spiritual plane one cannot simultaneously be Christian and Democrat, on a secular plane one cannot simultaneously be pro-nuclear energy and Democrat.

The Lord's Anointed

Folks,

I am sure most readers will recall how David so famously said in 1st Samuel 24:7:

The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD'S anointed, as to lay a hand on him, for he is the Lord's anointed.

David said this to his men who were encouraging him to strike against Saul as they hid within a cave in the wilderness of En-gedi while Saul slept near the entrance, unaware David and his men were hidden deep within.

Yet Saul was still rejected by God because of his persistent and unrepentant disobedience. Saul had made an unlawful sacrifice in 1st Samuel 13 and the prophet Samuel confronted him on it with these words in verses 13 and 14:

You have been foolish! Had you kept the command the LORD your God gave you, the LORD would now establish your kingship in Israel as lasting; but as things are, your kingdom shall not endure. The LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and has appointed him commander of his people, because you broke the LORD'S command.

Saul made a rash oath in 1st Samuel 14:24:

Cursed be the man who takes food before evening, before I am able to avenge myself on my enemies.

Of course, who unwittingly partook of the honeycomb but his own son Jonathan.

Then in 1st Samuel 15, Saul was supposed to utterly destroy the pagan Amalekites, but instead he spare their king. Verse 23 speaks very plainly:

For a sin like divination is rebellion, and presumption is the crime of idolatry. Because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he, too, has rejected you as ruler.

In 1st Samuel 28 Saul consulted a medium to conjure up Samuel's spirit after he had died. He wanted advice on what to do about the Philistines warring against him. Samuel's response in verses 16 through 19 is of course prophetic:

But why do you ask me, if the LORD has abandoned you and is with your neighbor? The LORD has done to you what he foretold through me: he has torn the kingdom from your grasp and has given it to your neighbor David. Because you disobeyed the LORD'S directive and would not carry out his fierce anger against Amalek, the LORD has done this to you today. Moreover, the LORD will deliver Israel, and you as well, into the clutches of the Philistines. By tomorrow you and your sons will be with me, and the LORD will have delivered the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.

Again and again and again Saul disobeyed God, tried to murder David, indulged his ego and remained unrepentant. David did not lay a hand on Saul because Saul was the Lord's anointed. But God did speak through his prophet Samuel straight to Saul's face to tell him what the results of his disobedience would be.

Today we have priests (liberal, progressive, always speaking Democrat Party line from the pulpit) in the role of King Saul. We mustn't lay a hand on them. But sometimes they have got to be corrected and the Faithful have to be warned. The Lord will NOT tolerate disobedience, especially from his anointed. Ingratiating themselves with the gay rights community, lauding the false gospel of social justice and peace at any price over the true Gospel of life, elevating the capital punishment of convicted murderers and rapists to a horror while downplaying or ignoring the far greater horror of the infanticide of the unborn, making the common good Sunday's homily message instead of righteousness and holiness - these and more are the crimes of our current Sauls. It's time that these wolves in sheep's clothing be revealed for what they are. Jeremiah 25:34-38 is quite prophetic in this:

Howl, you shepherds, and wail! roll in the dust, leaders of the flock! The time for your slaughter has come; like choice rams you shall fall. There is no flight for the shepherds, no escape for the leaders of the flock. Listen! Wailing from the shepherds, howling by the leaders of the flock! For the LORD lays waste their grazing place, desolate lie the peaceful pastures; The lion leaves his lair, and their land is made desolate By the sweeping sword, by the burning wrath of the LORD.

God is NOT going to tolerate His shepherds misleading His flock. Liberalism and progressivism have had their day.

I received the following from a dear friend. What is so amazing is that the liberal left has all kinds of tolerance for Islamic fascists who murder women and children at will, but no tolerance for devout Christians who defend the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, and the right of an unborn baby to live. One day the Lord will deal with both the liberalism - progressivism of the Democratic Party and Islamic fascism in the same way. Revelation 19:11-16:

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 9/11 families were joined by immigrants from India, Russia, Egypt, Israel, Africa, Iran and Europe to show opposition to the construction of a mega-mosque at Ground Zero. Crowd estimates ranged from 5,000 (NYPD) to 10,000. The crowd overflowed the police barrier enclosures that ran the full length of two city blocks. Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are the founders of STOP ISLAMIZATION OF AMERICA, which sponsored the rally. Ms. Geller is a citizen journalist and blogger who runs the human rights web site Atlas Shrugs. Mr. Spencer is the author of several books on Islam and head of the influential web site Jihad watch. Pamela Geller:

“Ground Zero is a war memorial, Ground Zero is a burial ground. We are asking for sensitivity…It is unconscionable to build a shrine to the very ideology that inspired the jihadist attacks at Ground Zero, right there. We are asking the imam Rauf and Daisy Khan to be sensitive. For mutual respect and mutual understanding that is demanded of us every day.

There’s a hair-trigger sensitivity in the Muslim world, you can’t run the cartoons, you can’t say Mohammed, this is offensive. This is an offensive mosque. To build a shrine, an Islamic flag of conquest on the sacred ground the cherished site, of a conquered land. This is historic, this is Islamic history. It’s what they do. The St. Sofia in Turkey, the al-Quds, at the holiest Jewish site in Israel. Not here. This is where we take a stand. We must take a stand. We must say no.”

I do not believe that the landmarks commission controlled by Mayor Bloomberg, is going to stop this mosque. It’s not going to happen. Here’s Omar Muhamedi, on his human rights council, a CAIR lawyer, who sued the airlines and the Jane and John Does that saw something and said something on those airplanes, if you remember. Port Authority and NYPD officers kept watch over the rally and were well aware of the need for heightened security at this event. One of their own Port Authority officers, WTC Sergeant Alan T. De Vona was on duty at the World Trade Center on 9/11, 2001, and was one of the first to help victims of the terrorist attack. He spoke these words to the SIOA rally:

“It’s almost nine years. I’m hoping that America is watching. I’m hoping that America is remembering. Because, make no mistake. September 11 was an act of war. The foundation is a member of the Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam (HRCARI). HRCARI is a coalition of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians from Sudan, Egypt and Iraq, moderate Muslims and Jews — who are victims and targets of radical Islam around the globe. He said, at another rally:

“Radical Islamists are killing people in India, trying to dominate that nation. And here too they come with violence against “infidels.” We are “infidels united,” standing together, brown, black and white, against this epoch’s fascist movement. Because of Islamic terrorism, America and the world have seen massive new security measures become a way of life. Anyone openly critical of Islam, or terrorist ideology, must surround themselves with security, or live in hiding. Those courageous enough to confront Islamism are criticized by the cowards and appeasers of the left who seek safety by supporting the enemy. Moderate Muslims were silent when Theo van Gogh was brutally murdered in Amsterdam, just as moderate Muslims in the United States are generally reluctant to speak out against violent Islam. Moderate Muslims also face great danger in speaking out.

Geller and Spencer will press on despite the danger. They hope to inspire Americans to stand up and say enough of political correctness and work to stem the galloping islamization of America and Europe.
